The Location

One of the most stunning of all Thailand’s tropical islands, Koh Samui lies in the Gulf of Thailand some 30 kilometres off the eastern shores of the country’s southern peninsula. Samui has been charming its visitors ever since the first tourists arrived.

The island has developed over the years from a back-packer destination at the end of the hippy trail, into a sophisticated destination for a cosmopolitan mix of international tourists and residents. This development of the island gathered pace when Bangkok Airways started scheduled flights to Koh Samui in 1989.

Samui offers excellent flight connectivity. There are direct air links to an increasing number of international destinations, and it is just 50 minutes’ flight from Bangkok. Samui is easily reached, and yet remains an idyllic island in the sun.
